COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A memorial service is scheduled to take place Wednesday for a fallen member of the Mountain Post.

Staff Sgt. Lex Lewis of Rapid City, S.D. was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan.

He will be remembered at 11 Wednesday morning at Fort Carson's Memorial Chapel.

The service will include the traditional roll call, a rifle squad salute, and the playing of taps as family and friends say good bye to the fallen hero.

Sgt. Lewis was assigned to the Second Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and was on his third deployment.

He had previous served in Iraq in 2003 and 2004 and again in 2008 and 2009.
