LAKEWOOD, COLO. (AP) -- It took 66 years, but Army soldier Russell Aulston finally has his World War II medals.
Rep. Ed Perlmutter presented Aulston with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Prison of War Medals on Monday for his service in Europe.
Aulston served in the US Army from 1942 to 1945. He was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 when his unit was overrun.
Aulston says he was surprised to get the medals, which were delayed because the military lost track of a number of soldiers after they returned home.
