COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers are on the lookout for a man who allegedly tried to kidnap and expose himself to a little girl.
The incident happened near Carmel Middle School Monday where a 9-year-old girl was waiting for an ice cream truck.
Police said a white man driving a white 4-door hatchback pulled up to the girl and asked if she wanted to see "man parts." The child began to back away from the vehicle and told the man "no." That's when he offered the girl $1.
Before the suspect could expose himself, the child's mother came out of her home on which caused the suspect to speed away.
Residents that live nearby are disgusted by what happened on their street.
"Oh I am angry! Angry and appalled," neighbor Fred Ortega said. "I have four granddaughters, so this concerns me."
The young girl's father, Alan Metz, said the incident makes his family feel as if their security has been taken away.
"We're not going to let [our daughter] run around the neighborhood like she used to," Metz said. "It is kind of sad, but it is our only option right now until the guy is caught."
The suspect is described as a man in his late 20's to early 30's with strawberry blonde hair in a "buzz cut" style. He was last seen wearing light blue jeans and a black shirt with a purple circle on the front.
Police have not released any other details, but did confirm the incident was an attempted kidnapping.
