COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- "Everything's Coming Up Roses" when the Colorado Springs Conservatory brings the Broadway hit "Gypsy" to the UCCS Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theater, June 17-19.
The production features Linda Weise as Rose and an all-star cast of students, faculty and community members, among them -- Jon Medved, Nasit Ari, Scott Hente and Sol Chavez.
Making her directorial return is the magical Billie McBride, who has performed in "Gypsy" six times (four with Angela Lansbury) and directed it four times.
The musical is loosely based on the life of 1930's burlesque queen Gypsy Rose Lee and focuses on her mother Rose, the ultimate stage mother who is always dreaming of ways for her daughters to make it big.
"People have told me that I Am Rose and all the students at the Conservatory are the children I have big dreams for," says Weise. "In many respects that's true, but don't we all dream big for our kids?"
