DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Wildlife Commission is scheduled to consider a proposed rule to ban the hunting of bears in their dens.
The commission is meeting Thursday in Salida to consider a number of issues, including the proposed bear hunting rule.
Wildlife commissioners voted to draft it after a hunter said he had killed a 703-pound black bear after tracking it to a cave and waiting for it to emerge.
Other hunters complained that was unsportsmanlike.
Other items on the commission's agenda include the artist Christo's proposed Over The River project, which would suspend huge fabric panels over parts of the Arkansas River.
