A 20-year-old woman died after being thrown from her car after it rolled in northeast Colorado Springs Tuesday afternoon.

According to Colorado Springs police, the woman lost control of her Ford Explorer while driving south on Union Boulevard near Montebello Drive. The car rolled into the northbound lanes and hit four other cars.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and one other person was taken to Memorial Hospital.

Northbound Union was shut down from Academy to Montebello, but southbound lanes were open.

Police said the road did have sand on it but still could have been icy with the latest snowstorm having hit Tuesday.

Police did not say whether speed, alcohol or drugs were involved.
