DENVER (AP) -- A Democratic congressman from Colorado known for meeting with voters in grocery stores is putting two upcoming meetings on hold after the shooting rampage at a similar meeting in Tucson, Ariz.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter is known for his twice-monthly "Government in the Grocery" meetings in his suburban Denver district.

Perlmutter spokeswoman Leslie Oliver said a meeting scheduled for Jan. 30 in Wheat Ridge, and another in mid-February, are on hold.

Oliver said Perlmutter does not travel with security and that his office is talking with the grocery stores about whether to cancel the meetings.

Six people were killed in Saturday's shootings at a grocery-store meeting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Giffords was shot in the head and is in intensive care.
