COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Feed the Children is a partnership between the El Paso County Department of Human Services, The Music Evangelism Foundation, Goodwill Industries and a long list of other donors and volunteers.

It is a one day event just before Christmas where the families already receiving help from the Department of Human Services are able to enjoy a day of celebration.

Semi trucks loaded with food, toys and toiletries for the families are purchased from the Feed the Children Organization in Oklahoma and driven to Colorado Springs.

Last year more than 4,000 people in El Paso County were served and 525 volunteers enthusiastically gave up their Saturday.

This year's Feed the Children event is Saturday, Dec. 18.

Donations and volunteers are still needed.

In addition, shopping at Whole Foods on Thursday Nov. 11 will have a huge impact on the neediest families in our community.

5% of all sales at both of the Whole Foods Markets in Colorado Springs (3180 New Center Point & 7635 N. Academy Blvd.) will go toward the December Feed the Children event.

Whole Foods will also host a free holiday tasting on Thursday Nov. 11 from 4-7 p.m.
