COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police will begin issuing tickets for red light camera Violators Saturday.
For the past month, those running red lights at the four intersections with cameras have been issued warnings. Now they will receive a penalty notice in the mail. Violators can plead guilty by paying the $75 or go to court to contest the violation.
Police said the system has been tested and works properly. Violators will be able to see still photos and a video of their violation.
The four intersections with cameras are:
- Northbound Nevada Avenue at Bijou Street - Eastbound Barnes Road at Oro Blanco Drive - Westbound Platte Avenue at Circle Drive - Westbound Platte Avenue at Murray Boulevard
City council gave preliminary approval for red light cameras back in June. Final approval was given later in the month, and the cameras were installed in August.
