COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- An 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix named Kayla is looking for a forever home.
She was featured as the "Pet of the Week" on FOX21 Morning News.
Stacey Candella from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) says Kayla (ID# 0892912) came to the shelter as a stray.
They believe she may be deaf.
"She is very, very sweet and friendly to everyone she meets", says Candella. "Kayla walks well on a leash and loves to receive attention. She also gets along great with other dogs."
Candella says Kayla will make a very nice family pet.
Her adoption fee is only $53, due to a special fund set up for older pets.
The HSPPR is also kicking off a new Cat Grant Spay/Neuter Program.
"This enables HSPPR to offer subsidized spay/neuter certificates to cat owners for only 33-dollars", says Candella. "For this small fee you will receive the spay/neuter surgery, a rabies vaccination and a cat license."
For pet owners who bring proof that their cat is already vaccinated, the cost is only 25-dollars.
Certificates for this new program will go on sale Wednesday, September 20th at 11am – for a spay day scheduled for Sept. 27.
Those who purchase these certificates must be income qualifying, so you will need to provide acceptable documentation.
