Crews fight 2 Colo. fires; other areas in danger
ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) -- Crews are working to contain two wildfires in Colorado, and a red flag warning has been issued for high fire danger along the Front Range.
A fire in Great Sand Dunes National Park in southern Colorado has reached the top of the Sangre de Cristo Range and crossed the park boundary into national forest land.
The fire had burned 4,300 acres by Sunday.
A fire on the Roan Plateau in western Colorado has burned 150 acres.
Both blazes are believed to have been started by lightning.
The red flag warning covers the Interstate 25 corridor and areas to the west of the highway.
It is in effect between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday.
Forecasters said gusty winds, low humidity and dry trees and vegetation make the areas vulnerable.
