KATHMANDU, Nepal (AP) -- The father of a 23-year-old Colorado woman who has been missing since last month in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal says his daughter is "one tough cookie."

Greeley attorney Paul Sacco told the Greeley Tribune that while his daughter, Aubrey Sacco, doesn't have extensive hiking experience, she's in good shape, works as a yoga instructor and is likely just out of phone contact.

Police are scouring a remote region in northern Nepal searching for Sacco, who was reported missing by her family after she failed to check in following a solo hike.

The police chief for the area says teams are searching the trekking route and interviewing inn owners and villagers. Word has been sent to local monasteries, which are often visited by foreign trekkers.
