1-Tank Road Trip: Buckskin Joe & Holy Cross Winery

CANON CITY, COLO. -- This week's 1-Tank Road Trip focuses on a southern Colorado county with a lot to offer.

One of those activities is Buckskin Joe in Fremont County. The cluster of buildings was originally constructed in the late 1950s as a set for a Hollywood production company to film westerns. While it is still used as a set for commercials, reality shows and movies, it is also a tourist attraction.

The buildings are authentic, brought in from various ghost and mining towns from across the state. They still hold the original construction designs.

Now, throughout the summer, visitors can go horseback riding, ride a train to the rim of the Royal Gorge, see magic shows and gunfights, and enjoy the restaurant and bar.

For adults, the Holy Cross Abbey Winery provides a little bit of relaxation. The tasting room is open all year round to visitors.

All 13 wines are produced locally and includes reds and whites. It is one of the most popular wineries along the Front Range.

The building was built in the early 1900s, but it did not become a winery until 2000.
