Colo. sheriff: Man with gun at school was hunter

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) -- Officials say a man seen with a gun i a pickup outside a Summit County high school was an avid hunter who was picking up his daughter, and they don't believe he was a threat.

Two Summit County High School students said they saw a man in a pickup with a rifle on Monday, prompting officials to lock down several schools.

The sheriff's department says after interviewing the man, they determined he was not a threat. His name hasn't been released.

School district officials provided extra surveillance for after-school activities Monday and some activities were canceled.

The district attorney's office is reviewing the case but hasn't determined whether charges will be filed.

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — The report of a man loading a gun inside a pickup truck in a parking lot at Summit High School prompted the lock-down of schools in the mountain community and a search for the vehicle.

Two students said they saw a man Monday loading ammunition for a rifle . They said a woman then left the school in Breckenridge and got into the truck, which drove away. It wasn't clear if she was a student.

Surveillance video at the school showed a truck with a red air compressor in the back, but license plate wasn't visible.

Summit County sheriff's deputies didn't find the truck.

School district officials provided extra surveillance for after-school activities and some activities were canceled.
