COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A shooting Monday night in Colorado Springs has left one man dead and another with serious injuries.

Police responded to reports of shots fired on the 4500 block of Dewey Drive around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they found two male victims in the street with apparent gunshot wounds.

An investigation revealed that two groups of individuals had a confrontation in the street, when someone pulled a gun and began firing.

Both victims were transported to Memorial Hospital where one was pronounced dead.

The other victim was rushed into the operating room. Police say his injuries are serious, but not life-threatening.

Both Memorial and Penrose hospitals were notified of the incident as being possibly gang-related.

According to police, both hospitals went on lockdown, just in case anyone else came to continue the confrontation.

Police are searching for two vehicles that were seen leaving the area immediately following the disturbance.

They are described as a brown "low-rider" type vehicle and an older model SUV, possibly a  Chevy Blazer.

The names and ages of the victims are not being released pending the notification of family members. The El Paso County Coroner will be scheduling an autopsy to determine the cause of death for the deceased party.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
