GREELEY, Colo. (AP) -- Police say a 15-year-old boy died in an apparent accidental shooting over the weekend.

Greeley Police Sgt. Joe Tymkowych says the boy's teenage sister found a loaded handgun on a kitchen counter and it discharged Sunday afternoon, striking the boy who was sitting on a couch in another room.

Tymkowych says the gun belongs to the teenagers' father.

Prosecutors will review the case and decide whether to file charges.

Names were not released.
