An early Sunday morning shooting on Shannara Grove near Marksheffel Road terrified neighbors as they woke to shots being fired.

Hours later police are still investigating as blood and bullet holes are left behind.

Neighbors told FOX21 News they heard up to 20 shots being fired. One neighbor was sleeping on his couch when it all happened.

“I'm thankful my kids weren't home to see it or they would have been freaked out and more terrified,” said Jon Curtis, neighbor.

Police told FOX21 News the person living in the townhome was having a party and is a Fort Carson soldier who just returned home from Iraq. Neighbors say he has parties that get out of hand every weekend and the cops have been called before.

Police also believe the fight could have started because of gang relations. That's also why one neighbor wants to remain anonymous, fearing her life. She was also one of the neighbors who called 911.

“Terrifying, it is, I mean to have it in our neighborhood with the kids and everything, it's just terrifying, and to know he was a soldier, there is just no excuse for it,” said the neighbor.

Police say two people were taken to the hospital, one person with critical injuries, while the other person had non-life-threatening injuries.
