COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado Springs police officer on motorcycle patrol has survived a crash that threw him 45 feet.
Officials say Sgt. Philip LaBeau was thrown from his Honda police motorcycle early Saturday when an SUV turned left in front of him. LaBeau hit the side of the Kia and was thrown over the top of the vehicle.
LaBeau has multiple facial injuries and a broken leg, but he is in fair condition.
The driver of the Kia has been charged with vehicular assault and driving under the influence.
