EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- Former El Paso County Sheriff's Lt.Todd Evans will announce this week that he will run for El Paso County Sheriff in the 2010 election.

John Anderson, former El Paso County Sheriff and long-time supporter, is slated to introduce Evans Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at the Garden of the Gods Club, 3320 Mesa Road in the Sunrise Room North.

Evans, 42, a Republican and 12-year law enforcement veteran, will center his campaign on inter-agency cooperation with the primary goal of reducing and eliminating overlapping services as well as increased community involvement and overall transparency, according to a released statement.

It adds that Evans understands the sacrifice law enforcement professionals make and has pledged to aggressively pursue those who violate our laws without compromising character, integrity and ethics.

Evans holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Mexico.
