COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The 27th Annual Bob Telmosse Christmas Giveaway is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21 - but they are still in need of some essential items.

"Our biggest needs right now are new toys for kids age 10 or older, and frozen turkeys and ham," Tom Zurenko, President of the Bob Telmosse Foundation, told FOX21 Morning News. "We usually do well with toys for younger kids, but those older ones are a little harder to get items for."

In the quarter of a century that the program has been helping others, Zurenko said that nearly 80 percent of the donations come within the final days leading up to the big event. Each year, they give out toys and bikes to anywhere between 5,000 - 6,000 kids and enough food to feed about 2,000 families.

If you'd like to donate, or are in need of a helping hand this holiday, the Giveaway is in the northeast corner of the The Citadel Mall. The event starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. Doors won't open until 8 a.m. -- so Zurenko is asking that people don't line up outside too early in the winter temperatures.
