COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police have charged Timothy Hombs with second-degree assault after Hombs allegedly struck a bike rider intentionally Monday with his Dodge Caravan.

The incident happened at the intersection of Palmer Park Boulevard and Wooten Road just after 2 p.m.

The investigation revealed that Hombs saw a man on a bicycle that he believed to be his son's stolen bike. Hombs allegedly struck the rider, then exited his vehicle and approached the victim.

The bike rider struck Hombs, believing Hombs was going to assault him again. The victim received minor injuries to his leg and was treated and released at the scene.

Hombs received minor injuries to his face and was also treated at the scene, prior to being taken into custody.

The bicycle the victim was riding did not belong to Hombs' son.
