Amber Alert update: Deanna Archuleta found, suspect arrested

DURANGO, COLO. -- Update as of 1:46 p.m. MDT

Deanna Archuleta of Bayfield has been recovered and the suspect kidnapper, Daniel Adam Baker, arrested in New Mexico.

La Plata County Sheriff's Office has issued an Amber Alert as the result of a kidnapping at gunpoint at 2 a.m. Monday.

Missing is Deanna Archuleta, 17. She is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 120 - 125 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, with a nose ring in her left nostril. She was last seen wearing blue denim capri jeans, and maroon shirt and black flip-flop shoes.

The suspect who allegedly forcibly removed Archuleta from her family home in Bayfield is identified as Daniel Adam Baker.

He is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall, 125 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans and a light blue shirt when last seen.

According to police, Baker grabbed a 40-caliber pistol from his 2001 black Mercury Mountainair and fired several rounds. He was last seen fleeing the area in that vehicle, or has possibly exchanged the car and is driving a 2000 blue Dodge Durango.

The license plate number of the Mountainair is NM FFC983. The license plate of the Dodge Durango is NM GJS875.

Police advise that if Baker is contacted, to use extreme caution due to his possession of a weapon and previous encounters with law enforcement. The suspect is believed to be traveling to New Mexico.
