COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- One Colorado Springs couple is getting a break on their energy bill thanks to federal stimulus dollars.

Colorado is getting $80 million for home weatherization projects under the American Recovery Act.

Friday Governor Bill Ritter helped weatherize one of the first homes to benefit from the funds.

The project is intended to reduce the energy bills of low-income families

"We are creating jobs, we're infusing money into the economy and doing something we believe is really important in terms of energy usage and a clean energy future for the country," Ritter said.

The 1895 house got new insulation and weather stripping.

Nationally, the government will spend about $4 billion on similar projects.

To qualify a family of four can't make over about $45,000 a year.
