COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- In Southern Colorado Michael Jackson fans joined the world in remembering the pop icon.
In light of Tuesday's memorial a few dozen people came to the Independent Records and Video on Platte. They were buying items like a Michael Jackson memorial T-shirt, CDs and DVDs.
The store just got these items in two days ago and already they are almost out of stock.
"It doesn't matter how many times they've bought "Thriller" -- people are coming and buying Thriller for the fifth, sixth and seventh time. It's really a testament to what he's done music-wise and as a pop icon," said Mandy Christensen, advertising coordinator for Independent Records and Video.
New items are selling fast and old Michael Jackson paraphernalia is making a comeback.
"I just wanted to wear them. I've been wearing them in the last two weeks just in memory of him," said Lisa Jones.
FOx21 News found Jones wearing more than 20-year-old pins at the Carmike Theatres' live viewing of Jackson's memorial service.
"On TV, many countries, they're all gathering in places and that's what I feel like here. It's a time to come together and say goodbye," said Cathy Willoughby.
"My mom and I cried because it was sad. If it wasn't for his music and dance moves my generation wouldn't have the music they have today," said Brittney Normagen.
Back at Independent Records and Video, some former fans remembered Jackson differently by trying to make a buck on old collections.
"They were quoting the $100 to $200 prices online and we're like, 'We're not going to sell that for that price,' so you're going to need to sell it online if you think someone is going to buy it for that price," Christensen said.
And buying people are. FOX21 News found an unused ticket to a 1970s Jackson concert for sale on eBay. The current bid is $10,000.
"There's no telling how long the frenzy over Jackson paraphernalia will last, but it speaks volumes to the impact Jackson has had in the Springs.
