COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Ample sunshine and temperatures above freezing have helped road conditions in Colorado get back to near-normal conditions on Saturday.
By midday, thermometers around the state had either hit or passed the 32-degree mark. Additionally, the strong winds associated with the winter storm had subsided.
That comes as good news to residents of extreme southeastern Colorado, where snowfall totalled between 1 to 2 feet. Hardest hit was the town of Springfield with 21 inches, but many towns reported 15-20 inches of snow with drifts as high as 4 feet.
Highways across the eastern part of the state were still icy and snow covered in spots Saturday afternoon, but conditions elsewhere were a different story.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the only real trouble were wet and icy spots in higher elevations. The metro areas of Denver and Colorado Springs were primarily dry.
Flights scheduled got back to normal as well at Denver International and Colorado Springs Airport after weather-related delays Thursday and Friday. There were some delays reported, however, with incoming flights from portions of the Midwest -- that's where our storm moved for the weekend.
