COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- *  The final District 11 School Utilization meeting is set for tonight at 6:30. The main topic for the session will be Wasson High School and the possibility of converting the school into an arts, science and math magnet school. The board may also delay its decision on closing Irving Middle School when the members vote tonight. According to officials this is the final meeting, but there are no guarantees that there will be final decisions made. The board meets at Tesla Educational Opportunity Center at 2560 International Cir.

*  Members of the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Education Association will be making the rounds to 13 Colorado cities to educate teachers about an important bill. Today the education tour will stop in Pueblo at the Spanish Peaks Uni-Serve office. Department members will discuss Senate Bill 8212, the Colorado achievement plan for kids.  The bill eliminates the current Colorado student assessment program and replaces it with new state content standards. The tour will stop at the Uni-Serve office at 4:30 p.m.

*  Soldiers of 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, will conduct a fire support exercise called Operation Gunsmoke today. It is part of a week-long training exercise that aims to simulate an "Iraqi" environment for the soldiers so they can learn how to handle and distinguish a wide range of fires. The exercise will train leaders at the squad, platoon and company levels and includes close air support, combat attack and cannon artillery and mortars. The exercise lasts until Friday at Fort Carson.
