COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Sophia Rodgerson can't say enough about the Bob Telmosse Christmas Giveaway. This time last year Sophia and her family were in need of help.

“I really felt such a big help from them last year when we desperately needed it,” she said. “Instead of just having toothpaste in a stocking, they had some toys, things they could enjoy for Christmas.”

Stories like Rodgerson’s are what keep volunteers with the Bob Telmosse Giveaway working around the clock at Mr. Biggs Family Fun Center. It’s the site of the Christmas giveaway on Tuesday.

Dressed in winter coats and gloves, volunteers unpack boxes of donated food and toys.

"We are so grateful for the donations we have gotten already, but we still need things for a Christmas dinner, so frozen turkeys, hams, chicken, any kind of canned goods,” said Steve Bigari, owner of Mr. Biggs.

Volunteers say they are also still in need of toys, especially items for teenagers.

"Those are toys we do not get as often, so if you want to get something a teenager would like, boy or girl that would be great,” Bigari added.

The giveaway also takes new and slightly used clothes and coats for men, women and children.

"People arrive in some cases without coats, so it is great, any kind of winter coat,” Bigari said.

Donations can be made through Dec. 23, the same day the event happens from 9 am. to 3 p.m. The event is open to all families.

Mr. Biggs Family Fun Center is located at 5825 Mark Dabling Blvd, Colorado Springs. Phone is 719-955-7220.
