DENVER (AP) -- Colorado has cast its nine Electoral College votes for President-elect Barack Obama.

Monday's vote was ceremonial because Colorado law required all nine ballots to be awarded to Obama by virtue of his victory in the state's popular vote.

Obama is the first Democrat to carry Colorado since 1992, and only the third in the last six decades.

Traditionally, the only name on Colorado's Electoral College ballot is the winner of the popular vote, but Republican Secretary of State Mike Coffman listed GOP candidate John McCain and others.

Coffman says "it just made sense," even though electors were barred from choosing any other candidates.
