DENVER (AP) -- Attorneys for a man accused of assaulting Vice President Dick Cheney have lost their latest bid to release videotaped depositions of Cheney aides, Secret Service agents and an Eagle County sheriff's employee.

U.S. District Judge Christine Arguello yesterday upheld a magistrate judge's ruling that there was no "good cause" to release the videotapes.

Government attorneys feared the video would show up on YouTube or Comedy Central, which airs shows such as the "Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and the "Colbert Report."

Attorney David Lane says the videotapes show agents contradicting each other. Transcripts have been released.

The depositions were made in a lawsuit filed by environmental consultant Steven Howards, who claims he was wrongfully arrested after making comments to Cheney about the Iraq war in June 2006, when Cheney attended a conference in Beaver Creek.
