* Operation Christmas Child workers will be collecting shoe boxes at Woodmen Valley Chapel community center tonight at 6 p.m. All are encouraged to bring shoeboxes filled with small toys, toiletries and school supplies for children in other countries. The Awana children will be bringing in theirs tonight. The location is 290 E. Woodmen Road. Phone is 719-599-8652.

*More than 125 airmen from Peterson Air Force Base will volunteer today and throughout the week helping the Care and Share Food Bank. This is the 15th year the airmen have volunteered with the food drive. Last year they sorted about 132,000 pounds of food.  The location is 2520 Aviation Way, #130, Colorado Springs.

* MEI Technologies held a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. to officially open its Colorado Springs office. The location is 2860 Circle Dr. MEI is an advanced technology company serving civil, commercial and defense industries.

* Members of Fort Carson's Warrior Transition Unit will host a marriage enrichment seminar tonight at 6 p.m. at Crowne Plaza Hotel for soldies and their spouses. Counselors from Fort Carson's Army Community Service will presnet strategies and approaches to strenghen marriages. The hotel's address is 2886 S. Circle Dr., Colorado Springs.
