PUEBLO COUNTY, COLO. -- Most of the Pueblo County residents who have spent more than 24 hours away from their homes because of the Wetmore Fire have been allowed to return.

Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies have lifted evacuation orders for everyone who lives east of Siloam Road, which includes most of the county.

The only homes still under a mandatory evacuation are the ones west of Siloam and north of County Road 3251.

Returning residents are still on pre-evacuation notice and should still be alert in case the fire changes direction again.

If you live in the area but aren’t sure whether you are able to return, can call (719) 583-6250 or (719) 582-8448 and officials will help.

"We started this day knowing we wanted to scale back the evacuation," Emergency Services Bureau Chief Mark Mears said in a statement. "We needed to be sure we were able to safely do that because of the forecast weather conditions. Everything we do, we do with the safety of the residents and first responders foremost in our mind."

The fire is burning about 2,200 acres and is still not contained at all.
