DENVER, COLO. (AP) -- The man accused of killing a Denver police officer following a jazz concert at City Park has pleaded not guilty.

Twenty-one-year-old Rollin Oliver entered his plea Thursday in the killing of officer Celena Hollis.

Hollis was killed on June 24 while trying to break up a fight. Oliver is accused of firing multiple rounds during the altercation. His attorneys have said he was being pursued by gang members when he drew his weapon.

Oliver has been held in jail since his arrest, but his lawyers are asking a judge to consider allowing him to be released on bond. A decision isn't expected until at least next month.
