COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- There is only one week left to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

The deadline to register is Tuesday, October 9.

If you have not registered, need to update your registration, or simply do not know your status there are several places and websites available to help.

"People that are just turning 18, people that have moved to the state of Colorado or Colorado Springs, those are all in that new registration group," Alissa Vander Veen, Spokesperson for the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder's Office, said.

Vander Veen said the best way to register, or verify your status, is online at GoVoteColorado.com.

If you prefer to register in person, you can go to one of the county's clerk and recorder offices.

"Just come into one of our four offices and ask for a voter registration form, then fill it out and turn it back in," Vander Veen said.

Another option is to download a registration form and mail it in.

Just remember it has to be postmarked by October 9.

When you register you can also request a mail-in ballot.

"If you are registering online you will need a driver's license or Colorado identification card," Vander Veen said. "If you do it in person you will need either your Colorado identification card, driver's license or last four of your social security number."

As for voter turn-out, county officials anticipate it will be around 73%.

They said they are working to make sure every ballot is counted, and have already done three test runs consisting of more than 98,000 ballots apiece.

"Then next week we will do another public test of all our equipment so everyone can be confident all our machines are working properly," Vander Veen said.

- Main Office - Citizens Service Center - 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road, Suite 2202

- North Branch - Union Town Center - 8830 N. Union Blvd. (Research Pkwy. and Union Blvd.)

- Downtown Central - Centennial Hall - 200 S. Cascade Ave., lower level (Cascade Ave. and Vermijo)

- Southeast Branch - 5650 Industrial Place (Powers and Airport)
