COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Tuesday was the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.

In honor of the Southern Coloradans whose lives were taken at the hands of another, the organization M.O.M.Y. (Mothers of Murdered Youth) held their annual meeting.

M.O.M.Y. was started in 1997 by the family of Steven "Gino" Romero, who was killed in a drive-by shooting when he was just 13-years-old.

Since that time, hundreds of other families have joined M.O.M.Y. in honor of their loves ones.

Tuesday afternoon, several of those families, along with District Attorney Dan May and local law enforcement, gathered at the Penrose Library to share stories and talk about the future.

"I had a lot of support from my family, but anyone who has ever had a child murdered knows it is not enough, they are grieving too," Jennifer Romero, Founder and President of M.O.M.Y., said. "You need the support of other people who have gone through it."
