FORT CARSON, COLO. -- Fort Carson held a homecoming ceremony for 150 military police soldiers Wednesday.

The 110th Military Police Company returned to a full house on base, and family members were excited to have them home.

"It was just something he wanted to do, and we supported him all the way," Linden McCanney, whose son returned home, said.

Linden's son Michael had been working as part of the security operations for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan for the past six months.

"It was very hard," Linden said. "It was probably the hardest thing in our lifetime."

The McCanneys were able to use Facebook and Skype to keep in touch, but it was the late-night phone calls that really kept them going.

"At 3 in the morning, which was midday for him," Linden said.

Michael is finally home now.

"It feels good to see some friendly mountains for once," Michael said with a laugh.

Michael was also greeted at the base by his fiance.

"I finally get to be a part of the planning process for the wedding," Michael said. I am really excited for that."
