SAN ISABEL NATIONAL FOREST -- A recovery mission was launched Saturday following a plane crash in the San Isabel National Forest Friday.

Recovery crews from the Custer County Sheriff's Office, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Forest Service, Alpine Rescue Team, and several other search and rescue teams responded to the crash site Saturday morning.

The small plane went missing Friday morning with two Pueblo County lawmen on board.

The two have since been confirmed dead.

Authorities said one was an employee of the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, and the other a retired Pueblo City Policeman.

They said they were searching the southern Colorado mountains for an illegal marijuana grow.

The N.T.S.B. and F.A.A. are now investigating the cause of the crash.
