Three separate investigations led to the arrest of 14 people accused of trafficking and distributing marijuana, meth, heroin and cocaine in the Pikes Peak Region.
Several agenicies, including CSPD Metro Vice, El Paso County Sheriff's, Pueblo Police, the DEA and the FBI, have worked together since last October to bring down the group. They learned that the organization was responsible for distributing meth, cocaine and heroin in Colorado Springs, and were able to seize U.S. currency, narcotics and cars that were used in the drug trafficking organization. From information obtained here, they were able to coordinate investigations in seven other states as well as Mexico.
Investigators seized almost seven pounds of heroin, nearly 10 pounds of meth, a kilogram of cocaine, six vehicles, and over $150,000 in U.S. currency. It was during this investigation that authorities learned of a second heroin trafficking operation in Colorado Springs and Pueblo. That investigation ended last week, with the arrest of two local residents after officials intercepted a suspected load car traveling to the area from California. Four pounds of heroin and a quarter pound of cocaine were found inside that vehicle, while a search of a Springs apartment netted more heroin and three more vehicles.
In a separate investigation, the local DEA office learned last week of a marijuana distributor that reportedly had about 400 pounds of marijuana stored in Denver. Further investigation resulted in the confiscation of about 600 pounds of marijuana, the seizure of two vehicles and the arrest of five people.
The total amount of narcotics seized during these investigations are values at over $5.6 million.
