COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Fire officials said an SUV hit one of their trucks Saturday while it was responding to an emergency.
According to firefighters, the engine's lights and sirens were on when it approached the intersection of Chestnut Street and Fillmore Street in the city. The driver of the engine yielded in the intersection, then proceeded to go through.
An SUV hit the front left corner of the truck, causing injuries. The SUV's driver was taken to a hospital, while three firefighters in the truck were treated for minor injuries.
A different truck ended up responding to the emergency after the truck in the crash was taken out of service. Crews said the delay from the crash did not have a negative impact on the medical emergency.
No one involved in the crash had life-threatening injuries.
The SUV's driver was cited for failing to yield for an emergency vehicle.
