COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers announced Wednesday they have linked an arrested carjacking suspect with four liquor store robberies from January through March.
Officers said 33-year-old Brett Harris is responsible for robbing Lake Liquors three times - on Jan. 21, March 13 and March 30, as well as JW Liquor on Jan. 23.
Harris was arrested for stealing a car and leading officers on a chase Thursday afternoon. He was accused of threatening someone with a gun before stealing the car and was arrested when he drove into a field in southwest Colorado Springs after ignoring officer demands to pull over.
Investigators said they realized the same person had committed all four liquor store robberies, which were all near Memorial Park, after witnesses described the suspect as a 5'8" - 6" white man with a medium build. However, officers couldn't find a suspect until Harris' statement and evidence lead police to get charges against him for the robberies.
Officers continue to investigate and said Harris may be involved in other cases too.
