CANON CITY, COLO. -- The former director of Family Crisis Services, Inc. was arrested in Wyoming Wednesday for embezzling funds from the nonprofit organization.

Authorities in Casper, Wyo. arrested 41-year-old Andrea Hammond after a judge in Fremont County issued a warrant for her arrest.

Canon City Police officers said Hammond is accused of embezzling "a significant amount" of funds from the organization, which is based in Canon City, but they wouldn't give a total. The arrest comes after months of work by investigators.

Family Crisis Services assists Fremont County-area residents who are victims of family violence and other crimes.

Hammomd lives in Casper but lived in Canon City while serving as director. Her bond is $250,000.
