COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A wildfire that destroyed several homes on the northwest side of Colorado Springs has grown to more than 15,000 acres.

More than 26,000 Colorado Springs residents were evacuated Tuesday, and those residents in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood are anxiously waiting for word on when they can return to the area to check on their homes. Crews have not specified when those residents can go back home.

Anyone wanting to find out about their homes can call one of three numbers to leave your information for a callback. Those numbers are:

(719) 520-7058
(720) 402-7935
(720) 202-4510

If you don't call, officials will cross-reference address of burnt homes with your information and try to get a hold of you that way.

Everyone west of I-25 and north of Garden of the Gods Road, including two neighborhoods on the south side of the Air Force Academy, have been evacuated. Areas west of Centennial Boulevard down to Fillmore, the Cedar Heights neighborhood and residents in Cascade, Chipita Park and Green Mountain Falls are also on mandatory evacuation, and new evacuations have now been issued for Ranch Estates and Holiday Hills in Woodland Park, as well as Crystola residents.

In all, about 32,500 people have been displaced.

Four Red Cross shelters have been set up and have space for evacuees. They are at Cheyenne Mountain High School, the Southeast YMCA, Lewis-Palmer High School and Summit Elementary School.

Crews said the fire is about five percent contained and has spread to about 15,517 acres. More than 1,000 firefighters are battling the fire, which has cost about $2 million so far.
