PARK COUNTY, COLO. -- U.S. Forest Service officials said they hope to have the Springer Fire 100 percent contained by Sunday.
The wildfire, which is burning in Park County about 3.5 miles from Lake George, is currently 59 percent contained.
Crews said the fire remains at 1,145 acres, meaning it hasn't grown since Wednesday, but weekend conditions are expected to be hot and dry.
About 509 firefighters are working to finish containment lines and secure the perimeter, focusing on keeping the fire from the south side of Eleven Mile Canyon.
Red flag warnings are in effect, and fire bans have also been ordered.
The Springer Fire, which started Sunday, is the third in Park County in just two weeks, and officials think it may have started because of recreational shooting.
