FORT COLLINS, COLO. (AP) -- The cost of fighting a wildfire northwest of Fort Collins is expected to exceed nearly $3 million.
U.S. Forest Service spokesman Steve Segin says a team is still assessing the fire's environmental impact and what needs to be done to fix the damage.
According to the Denver Post, authorities have accused 56-year-old James Weber of Fort Collins of starting the fire with an outdoor stove while camping in the Roosevelt National Forest and said he could be held liable for damages.
The fire that started nearly two weeks ago scorched about 12 square miles and forced the evacuation of dozens of local residents.
