COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A man is recovering Friday morning after being stabbed with a broken beer bottle, a bottle that broke after the man was hit on the head with it.
Colorado Springs Police officers got to the 2000 block of South El Paso Avenue around 1:25 a.m. Friday after a man was stabbed in the arm.
Officers said the stab wound was serious, but the injuries are not life-threatening.
According to the victim, he and his girlfriend were sitting in her car when 23-year-old Francisco Mireles-Velasquel came up to it and started looking into the car with a lighter.
When the man got out of the car to confront Velasquel, Velasquel hit him in the head with a beer bottle. They then began fighting, and Velasquel stabbed the man in the lower right arm with the broken bottle.
Officers followed leads and eventually identified Velasquel as the alleged stabber. He has been arrested for first degree assault.
