Man "planned to be killed by cops" before arrest

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers arrested a man early Wednesday morning who allegedly wanted to be killed by them.

According to officers, 29-year-old Joshua Wasson called 911 and told the dispatcher "I've got my vest on, and I'm ready to do it." The EMT heard a gunshot while the line was open.

Officers set up containment around the area of the 4200 block of Vicksburg Terrace and found Wasson in an armored vest with two guns lying on the driveway of his house.

After Wasson ignored officers, they used an impact munition on him to control and arrest him.

Officers said he was distraught and had planned to be killed by them. He will be charged with prohibited use of weapons, reckless endangerment and obstructing a peace officer.
