COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The man accused of driving away after hitting and killing a boy Thursday night had 35 prior charges, including 19 traffic and motor vehicle-related violations.
According to Colorado court documents, 38-year-old David Henley Jr. had previous court appearances in four counties dating back to 1992. He had eight motor vehicle charges, 11 traffic charges and three charges of driving under suspension.
Other charges included assault, burglary, theft and menacing.
Henley was arrested Tuesday afternoon for fleeing the scene after allegedly hitting and killing 14-year-old Ricardo "Ricky" Figueroa at the intersection of Airport Road and Circle Drive. He has been charged with accidents involving death.
Figueroa died at an area hospital shortly after the crash. He was an eighth grader at the Galileo School of Math and Science in Colorado Springs.
All but three of the previous 35 charges against Henley are closed.
