ESTES PARK, COLO. (AP) -- The National Park Service is planning to restore part of the valley in the headwaters of the Colorado River that was ravaged by a 2003 flood.

Park officials say more than 47,000 cubic yards of debris, mud, rocks and trees washed into Lulu Creek when the Grand Ditch gave way on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, the park service is considering restoring only a portion of the damage because full restoration would require extensive use of motorized equipment.
