COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Mayor Steve Bach is in the hot seat after the executive director of Homeward Pikes Peak sent an email that said he's "frustrated at being kept at arm's length."

According to Dr. Robert Holmes, he has spent the past five months trying to make an appointment with Strong Mayor Steve Bach.

So, after several conversations with Bach's staff members went nowhere, he sent an email that said, "I have not been able to secure an appointment to see you since you were inaugurated."

"I think if you are in charge of a large municipal entity, and you're making decisions that are going to affect the lives of people, you should reach out and try to get all the input you can," Holmes, executive director of Homeward Pikes Peak, said.

Holmes has heard second-hand that the mayor is looking at making changes to homeless programs including:\ moving the soup kitchen to the old Salvation Army building on Weber Street and Cimarron Street.

That is a decision Holmes thinks would be financially inefficient.

"The Salvation Army building, the price on that is $2 plus million. It's not in good shape, so the whole infrastructure would have to be done."

He went on and said the money should go to the chronically homeless who suffer from untreated illnesses.

Bachissued a written statement in response.

It reads, "We have a number of things to accomplish with respect to helping our homeless population. We must continue and also enhance our efforts wherever possible, as a community, with helping those in need. As in all we do, we are focusing on re-invention and innovation in our city, and we must re-think how we deliver services to the homeless. Personally, I will help to raise money where I can."

Holmes said there is no ill will between him and the mayor.  He just wants to help him make a well informed decision.  As for Bach's statement, Holmes said there isn't "anything specific about improving communication."
