Driver crashes into 7-11 store

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A driver ran head on into the front of a 7-11 convenience store.

The crash happened at the corner of Pikes Peak Avenue and Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs just before 2 a.m. Thursday.

Colorado Springs Police officers said an SUV smashed into the building, causing substantial damage to the front of the store.

A passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured in the crash, but the injury is not considered life threatening.

No one in the store was hurt in the collision.

Officers arrested the driver of the car, 35-year-old Kimberly Sandoval, on charges of vehicular assault, aggravated driving under restraint and DUI.
