COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. --

The streets are a little safer after Colorado Springs Police officers helped U.S. Marshals capture an escaped convict from Louisiana.

Marshals provided the tip that the missing convict could be in the 1400 block of South Nevada Avenue in the city.

Authorities were able to locate the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Charles Mangrum, at Sun Springs Motel and took him into custody.

Officers did not say why Mangrum was wanted or what he was charged with. He escaped a detention center in Louisiana Oct. 14.
